What better way to spend Valentine’s – singing romantic jazz to those seekers of the Good Life. I look forward to presenting Johnny Mercer’s songs, as they lend themselves in a timeless way of love in relationships. Whether there are singles or couples, all will enjoy the smooth rhythmic and melodic sounds of these Golden Era of Hollywood songs. In honor of 2012 and Valentine’s, I will sing “The Good Life” and many other songs for the pleasure of diners at The Aurora Ristorante Italiano in Bel Marin Keys, Novato (Marin) on February 14th, 2012 for Valentine’s. Mercer stood out for me as quite the character with his southern charm and focusing on collaborating as a lyricist with all the great composers. He was the go-to-person for writing lyrics for Hollywood, during the glamour era we know as the Golden Era; 90 movie themes to his credit. He had such sensitivity, combined with mastery of capturing the culture, they were destined for fame. Using his own emotional depths, he pulled out romance at every corner. These are songs we hear just about everyday! Thank you Johnny for your amazing contribution. I’m proud to sing these songs with a modern twist to entertain audiences, and share the intrigue of the Era.
